This right here is what I'm talking about.

  1. There's good and evil everywhere you go - no place is exempt. Here is some good: David Young of the lower 9th Ward, New Orleans is feeding poor and homeless with plants and fruit trees, aquaponics, goats, chickens, and tons of bees. It is funded thru volunteer helpers and the sale of honey. In case you haven't heard of him, there's a youtube. Search David Young 9th Ward. And locally, my daughter and son-in-law as a side hobby have hundreds of beehives on their 180 acres. Every penny of honey profit goes to help support a safe and peaceful home for children to live in while their parents undergo drug rehab. Keep your eye on the good and don't let the bastards wear you down, love.

    1. Oh it's not about bastards wearing me down - it's about recognizing that I live in a place with a very high violent crime rate. I've already been a victim once and don't want to be again. I've always felt a sort of untouchable veneer, that my lucky doesn't wear off, but I'm realizing that the odds are against me on that the longer I stay. Awful things happen to good people here. When it no longer is magical, it's time to move on because the cost can be too high.
